Hanging out at the library
Where would we be as a society without libraries? After work, I can come here with my son and we can both be on the internet, without sharing the same computer. I can check out a small collection of books on a wide range of subjects (or a narrow subject like "Cheap paperback romances") and not pay a penny for the priviledge. Through interlibrary loans, I can check out just about any book I want (though I may have to be on a waiting list for the "Twilight" book by Stephanie Meyer). Libraries are like an all you can eat smorgasbord for the intellect -- only there's no cost to me as the consumer! There is no reason for anyone in this country to be uneducated. Even those who can not read have classes at the library to teach them how to read. There are books for the blind and sight-impaired. Whose learning needs are NOT met by the library?
Only those who do not WANT to learn.
Diane
